Crowdfunding campaign by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation
FAIRPLAID white-label platform for nature and climate protection
1.1 million euros for nature and climate protection.
More impact through collaboration. With Fairplaid, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung has shown how community involvement can bring about real change.
With the campaign in fall 2024, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung sets a new milestone. In the second implementation of the campaign with Fairplaid, over 1.1 million euros were collected for innovative environmental and climate protection projects within 4 weeks. Thanks to the unique matching principle, organizations, schools and associations were able to implement their ideas and make a sustainable contribution to promoting biodiversity, climate protection and knowledge transfer. Over 2,000 people from Baden-Württemberg took part and sent a strong signal for cooperation and responsibility.
The goals
Strengthening climate protection and biodiversity
Networking people and organizations and pooling knowledge
Promoting broad social commitment
Using the available funding effectively
The effect
31 award-winning initiatives with an average target sum of 22,000 euros were able to raise an average of over 36,000 euros for their projects.
This allows relevant and long-term projects such as a smart bathing light for the Neckar or a program for the restoration of healthy forests in the northern Black Forest to be implemented.
More than 2,100 people supported the projects with an average of 266 euros.
These grants were doubled by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation.
Over 1.1 million euros were raised for the initiatives within 4 weeks.
Results & effects
Maximum impact: Thanks to the "Population x Baden-Württemberg Stiftung" matching principle, €546,482 in foundation funding was turned into over €1.1 million for the initiatives supported.
Increase reach: Participating projects activate their own supporters via the campaign page, who then perceive the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung as an enabler.
Transparency and trust: Every project is presented transparently on the platform. Anyone can view the projects and the funding and participate. The funding is distributed fairly and democratically to the participating projects.
Efficient implementation: By outsourcing the processes to Fairplaid, the Baden-Württemberg Foundation streamlines its processes. Fairplaid provides the platform, technology and personal support for the campaign and its participants.
With its "Society & Nature" crowdfunding campaign, the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung has positioned itself as a sustainable enabler and reliable funding partner in climate and nature conservation. The funding budget was significantly increased through the fair and transparent support of numerous environmental and climate protection projects.
The solutions for your foundation
With a FAIRPLAID crowdfunding platform or campaign, foundations can not only acquire new funding projects, but also multiply existing funding through the active participation of civil society. At the same time, foundations increase the visibility of their funding topics and inspire sustainably committed supporters for their goals.
Together we tell success stories
foodsharing Ludwigsburg e. V.
The "Puff Pastry Forest" project is committed to restoring healthy forests in the northern Black Forest. A mixture of native tree species is being used to create a climate-resistant forest that stores CO₂ in the long term and provides a habitat for numerous animal and plant species. Thanks to the "Society & Nature" crowdfunding campaign and the commitment of many supporters, this visionary project was successfully financed - an example of the strength of collective responsibility for our planet.
A forest for the future: € 24,455 for the renaturation of the northern Black Forest
Neckarinsel e. V.
With research and technology for clean waters: €50,317 for a smart bathing light in the Neckar
The "We want to swim" project combines science, technology and design to sustainably improve the water quality of the Neckar. In the first step, experts from computer science and aquatic biology are developing a research design for the further development of a prediction system for bathing water quality. In parallel, professional designers are creating an intuitive dashboard that visualizes research results and integrates a bathing traffic light.
From spring 2025, data will be collected from May to October in order to train and test the system - an important milestone for environmental research. With funding of 20,000 euros, the project could be realized thanks to the "Society & Nature" crowdfunding campaign and the support of many committed people - a role model for innovative environmental protection projects.
"The diversity of the environmental projects supported reflects the broad commitment of people in the country to nature conservation and climate protection. We are delighted that the crowdfunding campaign was also well received in the second round."
