The crowdfunding contest

Co-funding of the Hertie Foundation: linking foundation funds with crowdfunding.

Classic foundation funding combined with an innovative crowdfunding contest.

With the MITWIRKEN crowdfunding contest, the non-profit Hertie Foundation aims to find, qualify and finance democracy projects from all over Germany - through a combination of crowdfunding and foundation funding.

With the MITWIRKEN Crowd, the Hertie Foundation combines crowdfunding and foundation funding in order to multiply funding potential and funding impact.

Implementation

31 selected projects that promote social cohesion and strong democracy competed together for four weeks. This - and therefore the awarding of the prize money - is decided by the supporters.

The 20 projects that reached their funding target at the end of the crowdfunding contest and were able to convince the most supporters received prize money totaling 200,000 euros from the Hertie Foundation in addition to the self-activated funds. For the Hertie Foundation, the MITWIRKEN crowdfunding contest is a combination of traditional foundation support and an innovative crowdfunding contest.
